If I had a whole day to myself, I would spend time in nature. Whether it be sitting on on my swing, on the back porch, or having a nice picnic with my little one.  I would still enjoy it just as long as I’m outside. The only thing that bothers me is getting bitten by those pesky mosquitoes. That’s why I make my natural mosquito repellent, so I can enjoy my adventures without worrying about getting bitten. Also knowing that my mosquito repellent is natural, I wouldn’t have to worry about the toxins and chemicals going inside my little one’s skin or mine. This mosquito repellent is made by just using  four ingredients: witch hazel, vodka/alcohol, almond oil, and tea tree oil.

Witch hazel

Witch hazel is made by boiling  pieces of bark and leaves  from the  witch hazel shrub  it is predominantly  found in North America. It is known for fighting off acne, but it is also known for decreasing bacterial growth while it heals scars and other skin infections

Rubbing Alcohol

Rubbing alcohol  is made with  90% of ethanol in the remaining portion is water. Many households are familiar with using rubbing alcohol mostly for cleaning open sores and massaging aching muscles. This rubbing alcohol also helps with reducing the urge to itch from mosquito bites and poison ivy, and also remove head lice.

Almond oil

Almonds come from the almond tree which is native to the Mediterranean region. Almonds are crushed in distilled to create almond oil. This oil contains high amounts of vitamin A which helps reduces acne.

Tea tree essential Oil

Growing up as a child, this is one of the first and most frequently used essential oils used on my hair. This popular tea tree oil is extracted from the leaves of a small tree in Australia. This oil is worthy of being bragged up on, because of the wonderful properties such as antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antiviral, balsamic, expectorant, fungicide, insecticide, and stimulant properties. It also helps aid in bug bites.

Ingredients:

2 tbsps of witch hazel

2 tbsps of alcohol

2 tbsps of almond oil

1/2 teaspoon of alcohol

15 drops of tea tree oil

Directions:

Combine all ingredients into a spray bottle. Your mosquito repellent is now ready to use. Shake well before each use and reapply every few hours.

Comment below and let me know how your mosquito repellent turned out.  Also, let me know what you did differently.

Peace and Love,
